Adding navigation menus

In this article you will learn how to manage menus in PageFabric.

Good to know: When you rename or move a page in the Website explorer, links and navigation menus are automatically updated to keep working links. This way you are sure that your visitors won't face 404 errors.

Create and manage your menus

To edit existing menus, proceed like that:

  1. Click on the Site ribbon tab
  2. Click the Manage menus button to open the dialog below

  • Click the Add button to create a new menu
  • Select a menu in the list and click the Edit button to open the menu editor and modify the existing menu
  • Select a menu in the list and click the Duplicate button to create a copy of the existing menu
  • Click the Remove button to delete the menu from the site

Please note: Make sure that there is no page that uses a menu before deleting it. There is no verification.

When you create or edit a menu, the menu editor dialog opens.

When you create a new menu, you must give it a name. It will be useful when you will need to edit it afterwards.

A menu can be viewed as a collection of items and sub items.

  1. Click the Add root menu item button to add a root item that can contain sub items,
Click the Add sub menu item to add a child menu to an existing one
  2. Give a name to the menu entry (the name will be used as the link text)
  3. Give a link in the Menu entry URL text box (click the 3 dots to select an existing page on your site)
  4. Check the Open link in new window if you want to open the link in a new tab (useful for external links)

Repeat the steps to populate your menu. Click on Save and Close button to save your modifications and close the dialog.
